Where can you apply vinyl wrap? Does my boat need to come out of the water?
We apply marine vinyl wrap on hulls from the waterline to rub rail, super structures, top sides, interior surfaces including doors, walls, and cabinets. We can apply vinyl to engine cowlings, dashboards, and exterior components. It is an excellent alternative to paint or other costly and expensive finishes.
Yes, your boat will need to come out of the water for a full hull wrap. Depending on the size of your boat it can be trailered or lifted out of the water. We have the capability to accommodate your needs.
Vinyl wrap needs to be applied in best possible pristine environment. Dust and particles can cause small bumps which should be avoided. We offer different environments for your vinyl wrap project depending on the needs of the job. From our inside protected work bays to a full paint shed, we can ensure the best environment to suit your needs. Our mobile unit can come to your marina or shipyard.
Your boat does not need to come out of the water for most interior wraps. We may be able to wrap your super structure while in the water too.

What is the life span of vinyl wrap?
This depends on a few factors but the short answer is 5 to 7 years. It is comparable to a marine paint job. As with a paint job, the vinyl wrap will last longer depending on how the boat is stored. Generally, vinyl wrap is more resistant to fading than paint so in many cases the vinyl wrap will last longer. Overall, longevity will depend on a number of circumstances including climate, vessel care, and type of vinyl chosen.
Will you be able to see the seams in the hull vinyl wrap?
Any joins or seams in the vinyl wrap will be visible on close inspection but from a short distance away they will not be visible. Rarely can you see the seams when the boat is on the water. Some colours or textures will show seams more than others. Vinyl wrap comes in 60” rolls, if your hull is less than 60” in height you will not need a seam. For larger hulls, seams are strategically placed to be less visible.
How long does it take to vinyl wrap?
This depends on the scope of the work but wrapping is always shorter than a paint job. The down time for a hull wrap is typically one-third but can be as little as one-quarter the time required to prep and paint. Often if we get a boat on Monday, you are back in the water by the weekend with a brand new look. For smaller boats, it can be as fast as one day.
What vinyl do we use?
We use top quality 3M 1080/2080 vinyl for exterior projects. There is a wide range of colours to choose from. It can also be used for some interior applications but we recommend 3M DI-NOC Architectural Finishes which come in different textures such as wood grain, metal and textile finishes.

What is the difference in cost of vinyl wrap compared to traditional painting?
Usually a vinyl wrapped hull will cost half the price of a professional marine painted hull. It can be as low as a third of the cost. It depends on the complexity of the job, hull preparation needed and the location. While the vinyl wrap material may not cost less than marine paint there is a substantial reduction in the number of man hours needed to complete the job so your labour costs are greatly reduced. Less time to finish the job also means less time at the shipyard which reduces your costs.
Generally, the bigger the boat, the greater the cost saving compared to a professional marine paint job. The cost can be as much as 75% less than a regular hull paint job.

How do you take care of a vinyl wrap hull?
There is no need to buff or polish vinyl wrap. Mild soap and water with a soft cloth will keep your hull looking fresh. This applies to both exterior and interior vinyl finishes.
Do not use a pressure washer or abrasive brush on your vinyl wrap as it may cause small tears. For haul-outs protect your vinyl wrap the same way you would protect a gelcoat application and use protective coverings.
How to Repair Damaged Vinyl?
If a small tear happens due to docking or other mishaps it is easy to repair this immediately. You can patch the area with a piece of matching vinyl. You cannot see this patch unless you are very close. Rarely is it visible while the boat is on the water. Since the vinyl wrap does not fade the same as paint, colour matching is not usually an issue.
We recommend using a vinyl wrap experienced installer for larger damage. They will reapply the vinyl in the best way possible to avoid large visible seams. They have the knowledge to know where the seams will be less visible with light angles. Repairs are quickly done and your boat will be back in the water for your enjoyment.
Is the Vinyl easy to remove?
Far easier than removing paint. The vinyl is removed and a solvent is used to remove any adhesive residue. Some owners of new boats will wrap their hull and then remove the vinyl three years later to a pristine hull. Added value for resale.
